The Augean Stables of the Administrative State Must Be Cleansed
and the unaccountable deep state brought under absolute executive control
Chris Rufo has just broken a huge story about what the DEI initiatives at the NSA (National Security Agency), DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) and ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) have unintentionally exposed within their ranks. As a reminder — these are the people who have access to every email you write and receive. Every post you write. Every DM you send. Every appointment you make with your doctor. Every ailment you’ve been diagnosed with. Everything you purchase. Every phone call you make. Every location you travel to with your cell phone. Some of them can even surreptitiously turn on your computer and phone cameras and watch you if they want to. They have access to everything. And they, like all intelligence agencies, have a not insignificant number of perverts and creeps working for them. And now we have proof.
According to our sources, the sex chats were legitimized as part of the NSA’s commitment to “diversity, equity and inclusion.” Activists within the agency used LGBTQ+ “employee resource groups” to turn their kinks and pathologies into official work duties. According to the current NSA employee, these groups “spent all day" recruiting activists and holding meetings with titles such as “Privilege,” “Ally Awareness,” “Pride,” and “Transgender Community Inclusion.” And they did so with the full support of NSA leadership, which declared that DEI was “not only mission critical, but mission imperative.”
Here are some of the chats:
These are NSA, DIA and ONI employees discussing their perversions during working hours — paid with our tax dollars to shred the Fourth Amendment and get their freak on. All at the same time!
Rufo’s piece ends with this:
A conflict is coming. These NSA chat logs suggest the presence of at least hundreds of gender activists within the intelligence services who cannot distinguish between male and female, and who believe that discussing castration, polyamory, and “gangbangs” is an appropriate use of public resources. For psychological and ideological reasons, these kinds of people will not be easily sidelined. The Trump administration should not only dismantle the structure of DEI but also terminate the employees who use it to advance gender activism at the expense of national security.

I highlight the above because it is so utterly revolting and beyond the pale. There is a lot more that goes on within the bureaucracies that, while perhaps not as sexually perverted, serves to pervert our democracy and has done so for most of a century. I’ve written about some of the treasonous acts of the deep state in other articles so I won’t mention them in depth here. You can review my series on this topic here.
Obviously the intel and law enforcement agencies are the most important to cleanse. The problem, however, goes much farther and deeper.
Over the last century the US legislative branch has seen fit to create agency after agency, all ostensibly operating under the auspices of the executive, that funciton with largely independent purviews and operations. Depending on how we count, there are between 60 and over 400 such agencies and subdivisions within the executive branch. This ever-metastasizing blob, comprising roughly 2.5 million federal employees and many more private contractors, is responsible for the fact that whatever agenda an incoming president has promised to fulfill will quickly and effectively get sidelined in favor of the designs of this blob — which always include ever more bureaucratic power for themselves.
There is an understanding of bureaucracy, expressed by Jerry Pournelle, called the Iron Law of Bureaucracy:
In any bureaucracy, the people devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy itself always get in control and those dedicated to the goals the bureaucracy is supposed to accomplish have less and less influence, and sometimes are eliminated entirely.
Donald Trump has long declared “the swamp” to be a massive hindrance to the workings of our democratic system of governance and this time he has the team to take them on. Much of the interminable screeing from the New York Times, WaPo, NPR, the AP, Reuters and the rest of the liberal media about Trump’s fascist tendencies can be understood as the PMC class, largely made up of government and government adjacent bureaucrats and NGO employees, protecting their turf.
These bureaucracies have been permitted to run riot over the interests of not just the nation and the citizenry but the Executive itself for well over half a century. This has led to incoherent and self-destructive foreign policy, endless pointless warfare and an unprecedented flow of taxpayer dollars into the private bank accounts of tens of thousands of “NGO” and deep state employees. Samantha Power, Obama apparatchik, former UN ambassador and head of USAID during the Biden administration is worth $30 million.
The US Constitution provides no legal basis for the existence of these agencies as distinct from oversight and control by the Executive and unequivocally invests all executive power in the elected person of the president. This fact is euphemistically termed the “unitary executive” and we have for decades heard the false warnings about “the imperial presidency”. I would argue that expression was simply cover provided by the media for their friends in the permanent bureaucratic state who have usurped the power of the executive in collusion with the legislature.
Until the arrival of Donald Trump every “imperial president” has only appeared as such. From Lyndon Johnson onward every president has implicitly understood that the priorities of the deep state will be their priorities… or else. Presidents like Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and George W. Bush were perceived as strong presidents precisely because they submitted to the directives and priorities of the deep state. Richard Nixon was setup and forced to resign because he went up against CIA Director Richard Helms.
Interestingly, prior to the election of Bill Clinton (a man who had no principles whatsoever) John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon were the only presidents elected since Andrew Jackson who didn’t have old WASP lineage. Jackson was treated with a similar snobbish derision to Trump and we know what happened to Kennedy and Nixon.
Immediately prior to John F. Kennedy’s fateful trip to Dallas on November 21, 1963 he told Malcolm Kilduff, Assistant Press Secretary, “after I come back from Texas, that’s going to change. Vietnam is not worth another American life”. He was speaking of a report he had just received on American casualties in that country (in a “police action” the US was not yet even officially engaged in).
Right after Kennedy’s assassination and Johnson’s swearing in Johnson turned to Henry Cabot Lodge, Ambassador to Vietnam just returned to Washington, and stated “I am not going to lose Vietnam. I am not going to be the president who saw Southeast Asia go the way China went”. Henry Cabot Lodge, son of one of the oldest blue blood American families, spent his time in Vietnam sabotaging Kennedy’s orders. He worked with the CIA and a group of South Vietnam’s generals to stage a coup and assassinate President Diem without the President’s approval or knowledge.
Whatever you think of the rightness of the Vietnam War’s aims it is clear that Kennedy correctly understood the war was a loser while his opposition within the CIA, State Department and military industrial complex overrode the president’s wishes on this debacle. In fact, I would argue these treasonous and deceitful acts (and the moral rot that underlay them) led directly to the dissolution and collapse of the old WASP guard. It was their children who formed much of the perverse and violent elements within the hippie movement. People like Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jim Morrison and many, many others were the core of a perverse reaction to the moral vacuum left by the acts of their own parents. The hippie generation’s children, descendants of the WASP upperclass, some of whom were actual victims of the vast MKUltra experimental apparatus, had children who went on to foment the woke, trans and DEI agendas. And so it goes.
Some suspect Lyndon Johnson was part of the plot to kill President Kennedy. Whether this is true or not his declaration to Cabot Lodge can be understood as a clear pledge of fealty to the goals and aims of the deep state and the plutocratic class.
Whatever the details of JFK’s assassination, it was only the first of four very public assassinations during the next five years when Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and Robert F. Kennedy were all assassinated by “crazed lone gunmen”. Interestingly the two (three?) Trump assassins were crazed lone gunmen as well. Fascinatingly, the US, over the last 80 years is the only country in the world where so many political figures of immense controversy and influence were targeted without any powerful factional backing. If you believe that you can believe anything. Even that men can turn themselves into women.
I raise this history not only because it is important to understand for its own sake but because it is vital to grasp the mechanism by which the power of the presidency has been hijacked by the many bureaucratic agencies the Executive nominally manages. Without these acts many later presidents might not have felt quite so compelled to submit themselves to the influence and power of the bureaucratic state.
Here I’ll mention a notorious episode from Obama’s late first term:
Shortly before his re-election in 2012, Obama reportedly was braced at a small dinner party by wealthy donors who wanted to know whatever happened to the “progressive Obama.” The President did not take kindly to the criticism, rose from the table, and said, “Don’t you remember what happened to Dr. King?”
Ridiculous, yes. Obama needn’t worry. He had already given the banksters, the deep state and MIC everything they wanted and more. King’s assassination was merely a shield he used to protect himself from criticism. Sad!
In his first term Trump was almost entirely unable to gain control of the agencies he ostensibly controlled. In fact quite the opposite occurred: the DOJ, FBI, CIA, DOD, NSA, USAID, NED and essentially every other executive agency directed their efforts at subverting the people’s agenda as manifested in the presidency and worked to actually overthrow Donald Trump. This seditious political project was almost entirely overt.
Recent details have been uncovered that USAID and CIA provided funding and pulled the strings of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), which was cited multiple times by the CIA “whistleblower” that sparked the Trump impeachment over Ukraine military aid.
The fact that these operators and their seditious project have been treated as valid by the establishment press — rather than identified for what it is — leaves us no doubt that it is all out war and no prisoners will be taken. Trump got the message and has responded accordingly.
I haven’t spoken yet of all the other corrupt and diseased bureaucracies the citizenry currently suffer under. We should be well aware of the deep corruption at the FDA, NIH and CDC that led to the insane overreaction, money grab and mass poisoning of the America public during the Covid hysteria. Given the Trump administration’s direct frontal assault on the deep state and many other powerful and corrupt bureaucratic organizations his inclusion of RFK Jr. in his campaign — and the promise he kept to make him HHS secretary (which controls and oversees these corrupt bureaucracies) — can be understood as part of this holistic project.
At this point no cuts can be too deep. The Trump team is confident that if the oncoming “constitutional crisis” reaches the Supreme Court they will decisively win that battle. They have good reason to think so. As I stated before the Constitution doesn’t provide for a fourth branch or independent quasi-subsidiary authority within the executive branch. The various bureaucracies including the cabinet level departments exist within the executive. Since they exist within the executive they necessarily fall within the control and direction of the president.
Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the Constitution states:
He [the President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.
A major Supreme Court decision, Buckley v. Valejo, 1976, determined that:
Principal officers are selected by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate. Inferior officers Congress may allow to be appointed by the President alone, by the heads of departments, or by the Judiciary.
Inferior officers are department officers without “significant authority”. Generally speaking the heads of departments, in consultation with the president, hire deputees and other inferior officers.
Since the president nominates the heads of the many departments it follows that he and these senior officers have full discretion on the employment of the lower rungs of the federal bureaucracy. Case closed.
The non-cabinet level bureaucratic agencies including all of those discussed above were created either by executive order or legislation. For those created by legislation the president doesn’t have ultimate freedom to shut them down. However, he can determine much of how they operate and what particular goals they pursue. As stated, unless a law provides for specific numbers of staff (I’m not aware of any), the president and his senior officers can lay off or fire anyone they choose.
This has the PMC class in an uproar. It is a direct attack on their powerbase within and adjacent to the federal government. If anyone is still wondering how the trans/woke/dei agenda was so quickly inserted into every crevice of our society look no further than the federal bureaucracies and their NGO servants (government funded, “non-governmental” orgs).
Every hospital, public school and state university in the nation gets a lot of federal funding. This gives the federal bureaucracy (that doles out these funds) overwhelming power to force them to accede to the demands of unelected bureaucrats in Washington. Every hospital in the nation was required to force “vaccinate” their employees with the covid shot in 2021/22. Anyone seeking medical treatment was also forced to get the shot. The threat of withholding federal funds is how it was done. Most corporations followed suit not necessarily out of anything but a desire to conform to the reality crafted by the immense state bureaucratic power. It was truly terrifying and blackpilled many of us on the idea of ever supporting national healthcare.
Of course our viciously senile president fully supported all the above — stating to all of us horrible unvaccinated that we would experience a “winter of sickness and death” thanks to our recalcitrance. Too bad so sad old man. Yale University just came out with a study showing that many who took the shot have developed a suppressed T-cell immune condition that is essentially AIDS. The more shots someone took the more likely they are to get it. People are calling it VAIDS.
When covid first appeared in early 2020 President Trump’s instinct was to downplay it. His first instinct turned out to be correct. Covid was, at most, only dangerous for the very elderly, the obese and/or those with severely compromised immune systems. For the rest of us, including infants and children, it was less deadly than the seasonal flu.
What happened next was astounding. The entire bureaucratic state and their media arm turned on an already weakened administration (thanks to the Russiagate lies and two seditious impeachments) and demanded it reverse course. The pressure from the bureaucracy and legislature was overwhelming. A bureaucracy that served the president’s agenda would back him. Instead what we saw was a bureaucracy in total revolt against their chief executive. This is not how the executive branch is supposed to work. Given all of this it is no wonder that Trump is taking aim at this sprawling mess.
Not to dwell on Kennedy too much but there are a large number of parallels between his presidency and that of President Trump. When the Bay of Pigs operation failed (an operating prepared and carried out by the CIA using Cuban exiles) Kennedy’s cabinet and most of his advisors pressured him to command a first strike against the Russian nuclear missiles in Cuba. He had been president for a few months at this point. Instead of ordering a strike he contacted Kruschev and worked out a compromise. Kruschev agreed to remove the missiles and later Kennedy agreed to remove US nuclear missiles from Turkey based near the Soviet border. These US missiles were the reason the Soviets put missiles in Cuba in the first place.
Thirty years later we learned that the Soviets, one day prior to the Kennedy/Kruschev compromise, had armed the nuclear missiles in Cuba and decided to launch them if an incoming strike was detected. If that occurred none of us would be here and the world would be a wasteland. This is the importance of presidential discretion and power over the executive bureaucracy. We have one commander-in-chief and he can hire and fire who he wants. End of story.
For all of the above reasons the federal bureaucracy must be pared down to a nub before it kills us all. I could also discuss how hard the federal bureaucracy pushed for the Ukraine war that has resulted in the biggest foreign policy disaster in US history but I won’t make this post even longer. The point is made: the federal bureaucracy is a threat not just to the citizenry, the economy and national security but to the entire world.
The story of the last eight years has been one of seditious conspiracy by highly placed government and government-adjacent apparatchiks against an elected president and the MAGA movement more generally. For a variety of reasons it was determined that Trump was unacceptable, his supporters ignorant, unworthy morons who could not be trusted with power. The people clearly feel otherwise.
These traitorous, elitist and authoritarian cretins are the inheritors of the administrative state that consistently pads their bank accounts at the expense of the American people. They have committed great crimes against the nation and the citizenry for over half a century and they cannot be permitted to continue the destruction of our nation. The nation has as much (inflation adjusted) debt as we did at the end of World War II with less than nothing to show for it and no clear way to pay down our debt. Trump is trying to perform the thankless job of bringing our books into some kind of balance and eliminating the gravy train driving our country off a cliff.
From my other writings you may know my views on the US dollar: in short that we can print more but this money must no longer be used to pad the balance sheets of financial predators in the financial, asset-management, real-estate and insurance sectors (the “rentier class”) and instead must be used to rebuild our infrastructure and industrial capacity. This wasteful spending also includes much of the federal bureaucracy and out-of-control Pentagon budget. From what I have gathered Trump sees things essentially the same way. He wants to reindustrialize the nation. A nation that doesn’t produce manufactured goods becomes as irrelevant as a nation that doesn’t produce its own weapons (and most of the base components for our weapons come from overseas).
Bringing the bureaucracy fully under presidential control is more important than cutting its spending but they are both important goals. Trump’s actions should be understood as useful for both purposes.
Time will tell how far Trump will go — how far he will be able to go, in order to rein in the sprawling bureaucratic leviathan. So far he’s doing very well. If he can continue this for four years we may yet avoid collapse. Much will depend on the disloyal opposition and how much we let them take back control. They have made it clear they will commit any deed, however foul, to achieve their goals. I have faith they will fail but we need to keep them off balance. Trump is a master at this. I hope Vance can learn this from Trump since in four short years it will be his turn and our enemies aren’t going anywhere.
Well done! Glad you wrote something. My father used to say under Obama “how much more will America take?”. I think we reached that point. Maybe Overton window is the correct description. The left can’t walk any of this back now. Certainly a point in history that I didn’t expect anytime soon.
We're going to need a bigger woodchipper.
